Occupancy

How do I get occupancy enabled?

Please raise a ticket to request the occupancy feature enabled on your account. The occupancy feature is only available on sites with LPR cameras currently.

How do I read the occupancy dashboard?

Occupancy counts

Total Occupancy shows the combined occupancy of all selected sites and space blocks for the date that is selected.

Occupancy by Site shows the total occupancy per site for each selected site & their selected space blocks on the date that is selected.

Occupancy by Space has a 100% bar graph and table display, this shows the total occupancy per space block for the selected sites and space blocks on the date that is selected.

Filtering

The Occupancy dashboard can be filtered by sites and spaces, this will update the occupancy counts to only display the totals for the selected sites and space blocks.

The Occupancy dashboard will show the occupancy for the date selected, this will default to today.
You can select dates in the past to show the maximum capacity reached on that day.
You can select dates in the future to show the reservations made for that day.
The current day occupancy shows the live occupancy count on the site, this refreshes in real time.

Occupancy types

  • Unknown - Has entered the lot, plate was not recognised and no session has been claimed. The plate entry time is still within the site’s grace period.

  • Violation

    • Plate has entered the lot, plate was not recognised and no session has been claimed. The plate entry time is now outside the site’s grace period so is counted as a Violation by not paid.

    • Plate has entered the lot, plate was recognised by parking session or booking, the parking session or booking has now expired, the plate is counted as Violation by overstay.

  • Occupied - The plate has entered the lot, the plate is recognised as occupied, having a parking session/booking/group/whitelist or pass access.

  • Reserved - The space has been prereserved for a plate that has not yet entered the lot. The space technically is ‘available’ but it has been prepaid for via booking reservation on the app.

  • Available - The space is not reserved and no plate has claimed it by booking/session/whitelist/group access/violation/unknown or pass.

How is occupancy calculated?

Occupancy is calculated by plate reads on entry and exit. Each entry read counts as a decrease in available occupancy and each exit read counts as an increase in available occupancy.

Occupany is sectioned into space blocks that are created in space management. By default all plates are sorted into the Transient occupancy. If a plate has access to another (or multiple other space blocks) by group/promotion/event pass/booking etc. then their occupancy is sorted into the space block with the highest hierarchy that they have access to.

Occupancy can change with different actions the customer or staff perform:

  • Transient: All plate reads will enter into the transient occupancy space if they do not belong to a higher ranked space block.

  • Groups: If a user belongs to a group with a specific space block, they will be counted in the group’s space block’s occupancy.

  • Booking: If a user has prebooked their parking, they will be counted in the occupancy for the booking’s space block.

  • Event pass: If a customer enters the parking lot with an event pass on their account, they will be counted in the occupancy for that event pass.

  • Manual check in: If an attendant in lane checks a customer in manually, the customer will be counted in the occupancy for the group the attendant selects.

  • Promotions: Promo codes can be set to change a user’s occupancy to a different space block when they are applied.
